Posted May 15, 2025

The updated Laudato Si’ Action Platform introduces a redesigned dashboard to help you reflect, act, and grow with greater ease. Whether you’re creating a new plan or continuing the journey you began last year, this simplified layout makes it easier to track your progress, upload documents, and take meaningful action.

In this post, we’ll walk you through the new features available in your dashboard, including step-by-step tools for reflection, planning, and participation in the certificate program.

What’s New in your Dashboard

Are there any new tools or features I should be aware of?

Yes! The updated dashboard includes several new tools to help you track your ecological journey more easily and meaningfully. These include:

  • A simplified self-assessment process
  • Clearer progress tracking toward your Laudato Si’ Plan
  • The ability to upload and update your reflection and plan with a template
  • A more intuitive layout for navigating your actions and sector resources
  • Step-by-step guidance for applying for the Annual Certificate.

These changes are designed to help you move through your journey with greater clarity, flexibility, and support.

What about the carbon calculator?

The carbon calculator is not currently part of the updated platform. While it was available in earlier versions, we found that many users preferred simpler tools or already used other calculators. We are exploring options for integrating or linking to trusted external carbon calculators in the future. In the meantime, you are welcome to use any tool that best fits your context, and you can still reflect on your emissions and reduction goals as part of your Laudato Si’ Plan.

Will my previous data and progress be saved in the new system?

Your existing Laudato Si’ Plan and related data have been preserved and migrated to the new system. You will still be able to view your submitted plans and reflections within your dashboard.

Will I have to upload my plan and reflection again?

If you submitted a Laudato Si’ Plan or reflection in 2025, you do not need to upload it again—your information has been migrated and is available in your new dashboard. However, plans submitted in 2024 or earlier are not automatically counted toward the 2025 Annual Certificate. If your 2024 plan was created with 2025 goals or activities in mind, you are welcome to upload it again or submit it as part of your 2025 journey. This helps ensure that all certificate applications reflect recent and relevant progress.

How do I create a Laudato Si’ Plan?

You can create your plan directly from your dashboard. We offer a Laudato Si’ Plan Template that you can download to reflect and plan before submitting online. Using the template is optional, but many find it helpful—especially if you’re working in a group. Where to find the template:

  • Click “Submit Your Plan” under Step 1: Initial Steps in your dashboard. This will generate the submission prompt where the template is linked.
  • Or go to “My Plans and Reflections”, where the same submission prompt and download link appear
  • Once you’re ready, just follow the prompts to enter your plan and submit it online.
What is included in the self-assessment?

The self-assessment is a short set of six multiple-choice questions that takes less than 2 minutes to complete. It’s designed to help tailor your Laudato Si’ Plan by recommending high-impact actions that are most relevant to your local context.

The questions focus on basic realities in your area—like access to electricity, water, literacy, employment, and healthcare. They’re based on the United Nations’ Human Development Index, and there are no right or wrong answers. Your responses won’t be shared—they’re simply used to help you avoid irrelevant information and focus on what matters most for your community.

Once completed, you’ll receive a personalized list of suggested actions aligned with the seven Laudato Si’ Goals.

Do I have to do all of the suggested actions?

No. The suggested actions are there to guide and inspire you, but you are not expected to complete them all. Choose the ones that are most relevant and realistic for your context and community. At the end of the year, you’ll be invited to indicate which actions you’ve completed by checking them off in your dashboard. This helps you track your progress and contributes to your Annual Certificate application if you choose to participate. Your Laudato Si’ Plan is a flexible tool—it’s about thoughtful, meaningful steps, not perfection.

Can I edit my Laudato Si’ Plan after submitting it?

Yes. You can return to your dashboard at any time to edit or update your Laudato Si’ Plan, even after submitting it. This allows you to reflect on your progress, adapt your actions, or respond to new needs in your community. We recognize that ecological conversion is a journey, and your plan can grow with you over time.

What if I’m just getting started—do I need to do everything at once?

Not at all. The Laudato Si’ Action Platform is designed to meet you where you are. If you’re just beginning your ecological journey, you can start small—by reflecting, choosing one or two meaningful actions, or exploring the resources available. You don’t need to complete everything at once. What matters is taking your first step with intention. The platform is here to accompany you over time, helping you grow your commitment at a pace that works for you.
