The report documents significant milestones, including ecological projects, community collaborations, and advocacy for sustainable development, reinforcing the prophetic call of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’.
The Annual Report serves as a resource and inspiration for individuals, institutions, and organizations engaging in ecological conversion. Highlights include:
- Global Engagement: Stories from participants across seven sectors advancing ecological sustainability and social justice.
- Practical Examples: Initiatives like tree planting in Nigeria and circular economy programs in South Sudan demonstrate the real-world impact of ecological action.
- Collaborative Efforts: Nearly 5,000 leaders from schools, congregations, parishes, and other institutions, along with over 5,000 families and individuals, have actively participated.
These highlights illustrate how participants worldwide are making meaningful contributions to caring for our common home.
“By bringing the Church and the world together, the Laudato Si’ Action Platform applies the Pope’s ‘symphonic’ vision, resulting in myriad concrete acts of love poured out in caring for God’s handiwork,” said Cardinal Michael Czerny, SJ, Prefect for the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.
Sr. Alessandra Smerilli, F.M.A., of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development follow these words by remarking “amid the current social and ecological challenges, we are reminded to listen to those on the peripheries, extending Christ’s love, justice, and compassion.”
Indeed, as the global ecological crisis intensifies, faith-based organizations are at the forefront of efforts to care for creation and all who share it. The Laudato Si’ Action Platform exemplifies how the Catholic Church is leading efforts to inspire communities to address environmental challenges through practical and spiritual means.
John Mundell, Director of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform, inspires us with this powerful reminder: “With the unity that brings trust, strength, and courage, I urge you: ‘Onward, pilgrims! We are not alone!'”
