Alonso de Llanes, Programme Director of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform
The Laudato Si’ Action Platform is pleased to announce that Alonso de Llanes has transitioned to Programme Director of the Platform, in recognition of his dedicated leadership and successful management over the past four years.
Since joining the Platform, Alonso has played a central role in guiding its global growth, strengthening partnerships across sectors, and supporting thousands of institutions, communities, and families in advancing their Laudato Si’ commitments. Under his leadership, the Platform has consolidated its operational foundations, expanded its international reach, and deepened engagement across the Church and civil society.
Launched by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, the Laudato Si’ Action Platform serves as a global journey toward sustainability in the spirit of Laudato Si’. It accompanies seven key sectors — families, parishes and dioceses, educational institutions, healthcare institutions, organizations and groups, economic actors, and religious congregations — in achieving measurable and faith-driven ecological conversion.
Alonso’s appointment as Director recognizes his vision, collaborative leadership style, and steadfast commitment to integral ecology. Over the past four years, he has overseen:
- The expansion of Platform participation across continents
- The strengthening of advisory networks and strategic partnerships
- The development of practical tools and formation resources for participants
- The consolidation of governance and operational structures
In this new role, Alonso will continue guiding the Platform’s strategic direction, ensuring that it remains a dynamic and impactful instrument in responding to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor.
“I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and for the extraordinary global community that animates the Laudato Si’ Action Platform,” said Alonso de Llanes. “This work belongs to all of us. Together, we will continue walking the path of ecological conversion, inspired by Pope Francis’ call to care for our common home, and encouraged by the ongoing pastoral vision of Pope Leo XIV to deepen our shared responsibility for creation, justice, and the dignity of every person .”
As the Platform looks toward the next phase of its journey, it remains committed to fostering collaboration, measurable impact, and hope-filled action rooted in faith.
