What Makes a Community Resilient? | Local leadership in a changing world
Laudato Si' Action Platform

This Season of Creation, we’re asking a question that matters far beyond these few weeks: what holds a community together when the pressures around it are growing?
What Makes a Community Resilient?
Local leadership in a changing world | 10 September 2026 | 4:00 p.m. Rome
While global leaders prepare to confront climate policy on the international stage, communities are doing the work closer to home: strengthening relationships, organizing neighbors, drawing on faith, and turning shared concern into practical action.
Join the Laudato Si’ Action Platform for a global Season of Creation gathering exploring the Laudato Si’ Goal of Community Resilience and Empowerment.
Together, we’ll look at how communities are building the relationships, local leadership, and practical capacity they need to respond when ecological and social pressures intensify.
Our speakers will bring perspectives from the Coalition for Spiritual and Public Leadership (CSPL) and the Iswe Foundation, exploring community resilience through local leadership and lived experience. The gathering will also create space for prayer, reflection, and connection across countries and contexts.
Stay for the conversation
After a short break, participants will also be invited to a separate community meeting: a more informal, participatory space to meet one another, ask questions, and exchange ideas about the challenges communities are navigating and the practices helping them respond.
Rather than another presentation, this will be a chance to talk with one another: sharing what is working, what remains difficult, and what we can learn across different local realities.
We hope you’ll join us on September 10.
