Feb. 25, 2024- 3rd Annual Catholic Youth Climate Summit
A partnership between the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Catholic Climate Covenant, Youth Mobilization.
25/02/2024 In Person
Youth (ages 14-18) registration is now open!
Catholic Youth (ages 14-18) are invited to join their peers from across the Chicago area for a day of discernment, fellowship, prayer, and empowerment for the care of our common home.
The CYCS leaders begin a year-long formation experience meeting bi-weekly and discern together how they can respond to the climate crisis and care for our common home as part of their faith, and lead actions within their school and community.
The teachings of Laudato Si’ and the Vatican’s Laudato Si’ Action Platform, are an integral part of the youths’ experience. From here, the CYCS leaders plan every aspect of Mass and the Summit day which includes their peers from across the Archdiocese of Chicago. At the Summit, the youth engage with professionals in session topics they have chosen and work collaboratively in creating plans to implement within their school and community.
These inspirational CYCS leaders walk as disciples of Christ, inviting inclusive peer-to-peer engagement to respond to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor.
In the spirit of solidarity, synodality, and subsidiarity, His Eminence Cardinal Blase J. Cupich will celebrate Mass with the youth at the beginning of the Summit. Families are welcome to join and support their students for the Mass portion of the day (only).
