Digital Missionaries | Storytelling for Integral Ecology
July 20–25, 2026
What’s Missing in Marketing Education?
Today, conversations around faith, identity, justice, spirituality, and care for our common home are shaped in real time through algorithms, creators, online communities, short-form video, and decentralized networks of influence. Culture is no longer formed primarily through institutions alone, but through relationships, stories, and participation.
The Church does not need more noise. It needs communicators capable of discernment: people who can recognize what matters, communicate hope credibly, build meaningful communities, and tell stories that reconnect faith, justice, human dignity, and care for creation.
This is not simply a communications course. It is an interactive global learning experience designed to help Catholic creators, communicators, educators, and changemakers strengthen their voice, sharpen their storytelling, and cultivate a more human and hope-filled digital culture.

Frequently Asked Questions
Digital Missionaries is open to Catholic creators, communicators, educators, organizers, journalists, ministry leaders, students, artists, and changemakers interested in faith, storytelling, justice, and care for our common home.
Whether you manage a diocesan social media account, host a podcast, organize community initiatives, create videos on Instagram, write articles, facilitate youth groups, or simply feel called to communicate hope in today’s digital culture, we encourage you to apply.
We especially welcome applications from young adults, emerging communicators, participants from the Global South, and voices often underrepresented in global conversations.
No. Participation is completely free for selected applicants.
The Laudato Si’ Action Platform is offering this bootcamp as a service to the global Church and to those seeking to communicate faith, justice, and care for creation more effectively in digital spaces.
We are selecting 50 participants worldwide for this inaugural cohort.
The application process helps us create a diverse and collaborative learning community representing different regions, sectors, experiences, languages, and communication styles.
Applications are reviewed based on several factors, including communication potential, creativity, mission alignment, leadership experience, and the ability to contribute to a collaborative global cohort.
We are not necessarily looking for the largest audiences or the most polished creators. We are looking for authentic communicators with the potential to inspire others and help shape a more hopeful digital culture.
The primary language of the bootcamp will be English.
Interpretation support may be offered depending on the final composition of the cohort and language needs identified through the application process.
The bootcamp will take place online from July 20–25, 2026, across six live interactive sessions.
Because participants will be joining from around the world, the final session schedule will be determined after participant selection based on the geographic distribution and time zones of the cohort.
Selected participants will receive the finalized schedule, session times, and onboarding materials shortly after acceptance into the program.
We are committed to choosing times that allow for the broadest possible global participation while maintaining an engaging and interactive experience.
The bootcamp includes six live online sessions from July 20–25, 2026.
Participants should expect approximately 2–3 hours of engagement per day, including live sessions, creative exercises, reflection, and collaborative activities.
Because the experience is highly interactive, participants should plan to attend all live sessions whenever possible.
Not at all. You do not need to be a professional communicator, influencer, marketer, or content creator.
We are looking for authenticity, creativity, initiative, storytelling potential, and a genuine desire to communicate faith, justice, human dignity, and care for creation. Some participants may already have extensive experience, while others may be just beginning their communication journey.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a reel, short-form video, article, social media post, podcast episode, photography project, newsletter, campaign, homily, presentation, or another example of communication work that reflects their voice, creativity, or mission.
Professional production quality is not required.
We are far more interested in authenticity, clarity, imagination, and purpose than technical perfection.
Because the bootcamp is highly interactive and community-based, live participation is strongly encouraged.
Selected recordings, resources, or session materials may be shared afterward when appropriate, but participants should plan to attend live whenever possible.
Yes. Participants who actively complete the bootcamp experience will receive a Certificate of Participation from the Laudato Si’ Action Platform.
The bootcamp is designed to be the beginning of a longer journey, not a standalone event.
Participants will be invited into an ongoing international network of Catholic digital storytellers through collaborative opportunities, campaign prompts, virtual gatherings, and future initiatives connected to the Laudato Si’ Action Platform and World Youth Day.
Our hope is to cultivate a growing community of communicators capable of inspiring hope, fostering dialogue, and advancing integral ecology in digital culture.
At first glance, Laudato Si’ may seem primarily concerned with environmental issues. But Pope Francis’ vision of integral ecology is much broader. It invites us to reflect on the relationships that shape our lives: with God, one another, creation, culture, technology, and society.
Today, many of those relationships are increasingly mediated through digital spaces.
Social media platforms influence how we form communities, encounter information, participate in public life, understand ourselves, and engage with questions of justice, human dignity, and the common good. Digital culture is not separate from our social and spiritual lives: it has become one of the environments in which they unfold.
Digital Missionaries explores how Catholics can communicate in these spaces with authenticity, creativity, and hope. Rather than simply learning how to use digital tools more effectively, participants will reflect on how storytelling, technology, community, and communication can serve human flourishing and care for our common home.
In an increasingly fragmented and AI-mediated world, the Church needs communicators capable of building trust, fostering dialogue, and telling stories that reconnect faith, justice, human dignity, and creation.
Applications close on June 26, 2026. Selected participants will be notified shortly afterward with onboarding information, schedules, and preparation materials.
