Why we are gathering

Five years, and what comes next

Five years ago, the Laudato Si’ Action Platform set out to help Laudato Si’ move from the page into the life of the Church. Today, communities around the world are showing what that looks like—and what will help it take deeper root and endure. The next five years will focus on helping more dioceses and institutions move from initial commitment to sustained implementation, with particular attention to communities in the Global South and those facing barriers to access.

Programme

Five years of learning, discerning what comes next

An overview of 6 November. Times and speakers will be added here as they are confirmed. The anniversary gathering will bring together representatives from across our sectors, including Church leaders, organizational partners, and area experts to reflect on five years of progress and help shape the next chapter of the Laudato Si' Action Platform.

  1. 01

08:30–09:15 Welcome to the Fifth Anniversary

Registration, welcome coffee, and time to reconnect with participants from around the world. The formal programme begins with a brief welcome, practical orientation, and opening prayer.

  2. 02

09:15–09:35 Laudato Si’ After a Decade: What Has Changed in the Church?

A conversation reflecting on what has changed in the Church since Laudato Si’, what the first decade has taught us, and where the journey of ecological conversion stands today.

  3. 03

09:40–11:25 Five Years In: What Actually Moves Institutions?

Participants from different sectors reflect on what helps communities move from intention to sustained action and where the greatest challenges remain. Followed by a coffee break.

  4. 04

11:30–12:20 What Makes Community Transformation Last?

A conversation on how individual and institutional action can grow into stronger communities, deeper participation, and collective responses to ecological and social challenges.

  5. 05

12:20–14:00 Artificial Intelligence and Integral Ecology: What Should the Church Build and Refuse?

An interactive session exploring how the Church might use artificial intelligence in service of integral ecology without sacrificing humanity, justice, participation, or care for creation. Participants will work in small groups and identify priorities to inform LSAP’s future work.

  6. 06

    14:00–15:00 Lunch & Fellowship

A shared lunch and time for conversation, connection, and exchange among participants.

  7. 07

15:00–16:50 What We Must Build Together: The Road to 2031

An afternoon looking ahead: what needs to change within the Church, the launch of the Platform's 2027–2031 roadmap, and concrete commitments from different sectors. The session closes with a simple question: What do we do differently when we go home?

  8. 08

16:50–19:15 From Rome to the World: Mass for the Care of Creation & Fifth Anniversary Aperitivo

We will walk together to the Sanctuary of St. John Baptist de La Salle for the Mass for Creation, followed by a fifth-anniversary aperitivo, a final opportunity to celebrate, connect, and carry the journey forward.

Provisional programme, subject to change.
