Let Justice and Peace Flow From Our Laudato Si’ Plans

This Season of Creation, Pope Francis uses the image of water to invite us to take part in the communal journey that is justice and peace, a bold effort that needs everyone’s contribution, like many small tributaries coming together to form a mighty river. “[Justice] is essential to our life as God’s children made in his likeness as water is essential to our physical survival,” and it must be available to everyone, he writes.

This work requires a transformation of our hearts, our lifestyles and public policies. What does this inner ecological conversion look like? And how might it find expression in outer forms of living in public life, from creating a sense of belonging for everyone in a local community, to creating local policies, to global gatherings like the upcoming COP28? What milestones might our organizations aim at to harmonize their commitments with care for the earth and all that lives on it, now and for the future?
