Focolare Movement Around the World

Focolare members Maria and Gianni Salerno co-lead the working group on families for the Laudato Si’ Action Platform. Around the world, the Focolare Movement is bringing Laudato Si’ to life in local communities large and small. 

In Myanmar, Focolare girls are collecting plastic waste from the streets and taking it to recyclers who turn the trash into handicrafts and art. See more in the video here. 

In East Africa, a young Italian engineer has assisted communities in Rwanda, Uganda and Congo in developing energy projects. He explains how relationships with local communities give meaning to his work. See more in the video here. 

In the Philippines, a professor or architecture at De La Salle University is leading his students in developing a project to remove litter from Manila’s Pasig River. The people who live in improvised housing along the banks of the river are essential partners are the people in this work. See more in the video here.
